Have You Heard Of Samsung’s New Smartwatch – It’s Here!

A lot of expectations have been burdened on the Korean company, Samsung, after successfully releasing an array of smart smartphones that have stormed the tech world. Currently, Samsung’s flagship smartphone towers above most other smartphones and is actually being used as a measuring tool to determine if a particular smartphone is cool or not.

Well, Samsung surely didn’t disappoint, and the Samsung Galaxy Gear, or commonly known as the smartwatch is the proof.

For years, Samsung has been a “follower” in the tech world. For instance, when Apple started using gyroscopes on their devices, Samsung and a whole bunch of other smartphone manufacturers soon picked the torch and carried on with the idea. However, the Samsung Galaxy Gear is actually the first of its kind.

True, Apple was working on a similar gadget which would also be worn on the wrist, but apparently Samsung dived in first.

Samsung Galaxy Gear Specifications
Without mentioning what features Samsung’s smartwatch comes with, the Galaxy Gear would appear to be your ordinary 50-bucks watch, but that is surely not the case.

Firstly, the smartwatch allows you to make calls, send SMS, and even stuff it with a few couple of apps. Besides that, you can listen to some of your favorite music directly from the watch. Since it comes with a 4GB on-board storage, all you really need is a perfect set of headphones to go well with the smartwatch.

Capturing those sacred moments in your daily life will also be super easy. This is because Galaxy Gear comes with a 1.9MP camera which has a BSI sensor, and it also allows you to record720p HD videos as well as watch them directly on the smartwatch.

Of course, all this is going to demand quite some amount of power, and the 800Mhz Exynos processor as well as the 512MB RAM chip in to support all these functionalities. However, when it comes to the battery, you only get a standard 315mAh Li-ion battery. For a smartphone, that would be pretty low, and you would have to keep your phone plugged in almost all the time, but for a smartwatch, this would suffice.

Apart from being a watch which simply tells you the time, it comes with some useful featured apps which are quite helpful to people who love working out. Some of these apps include:
1. MyFitnessPal – This tracks your nutrition as well as your exercises and empowers you to achieve your daily fitness goals.
2. RunKeeper – Helps you to track your runs, set goals, and eventually keep you motivated about your training.
3. Pocket – Allows you to save web content and view it later on any device of your choice. It also comes with a text-to-speech functionality.
4. TripIt – Makes it easier for you to organize your travel plans

Of course, let’s not forget that Samsung’s popular apps like ChatON, Voice Memo, and Smart Relay will also feature on the Galaxy Gear.

With all these features packed in a device that has a mere weight of 74g, a price tag of $299 would seem fair enough since you are in fact buying a smartphone that has managed to be fitted in an 11.1mm thick watch.

All in all, Samsung has now proved that it isn’t only good at following others, but by leading the way too.
