Three Exciting Video Game Titles in 2013

2013 is going to be a good year for video gamers of all stripes. While there have been a lot of new releases put on the block for the baying crowd, a few of the titles have definitely garnered more attention than others. For instance, 2013 should see the release of:

Dead Space 3

Dead Space, as a franchise, is an action game with horror elements. To call it a horror game isn’t accurate, but that’s often what it’s labeled as. The previous two games have led our main character through environments filled with flickering lights and hideously mutated humans that have been turned into what they are by alien powers not meant to be understood by man. Perhaps the third game in the series will provide just as many adrenaline pounding shoot outs with horrible beasts as the previous two?

Battlefield 4

While it’s currently just speculation, there are rumors that the next Battlefield game may be released in 2013. For fans of realistic first person shooters this is a mixed blessing, since a new Battlefield game is definitely something to look forward to, but it would likely mean a loss of support for Battlefield 3, which is still doing well among gamers in this particular genre. It’s also been theorized that it could be pushed back even further, appearing on whatever the next generation of hardware is. This would give a newly released system a game to showcase, and something to draw a loyal player base towards an upgrade.

Bioshock Infinite

The first Bioshock game set a precedent for quality, pacing, strategy and skill. It created a bizarre, dystopian world where the implications of practically everything were horrific and where you could rest assured that nearly everything was out to kill you. The second Bioshock game fell far short of the mark set by its predecessor, and it was accused of being mostly a gimmick game that got by on allowing you to play as one of the Frankensteinian creatures, the Big Daddies. The third installment in the series though has been rumored to be the prodigal son that will return and make sure the lightning strikes again. Originally slated for a 2012 release, Bioshock Infinite has been pushed back to 2013 to make sure that all the kinks are properly rubbed out to provide a smooth, stylish debut that will reward the players’ faith in the brand and in the series. And, if it goes well, there’s every chance that it might result in yet another Bioshock game at some point in the future. Whether the series remains a trilogy or keeps going though hasn’t been announced just yet, and may rest on just how well this third installment does.
